No. 1394 The Ishiba Government Must Listen to People’s Voices
The Trump administration has commented lately that ‘the United States will take ownership of Gaza Strip, and residents will be resettled outside the war-torn territory’, proposing a Middle East Riviera vision. That means colonization as well as ethnic cleansing. Offense against dignity of people cannot be allowed.
FREEDOM TO PALESTINIANS!
‘Plan of Generals’
Israel has, from the very beginning, a plan to govern Gaza Strip entirely. It is called the Plan of Generals: 300 thousand of Palestinian residents were given a week of moratorium for evacuation and a third of the Gazan territory was seized militarily to be designated as an area of No-access. Residents were ordered to leave home and those who remained there were regarded as combatants. Supplies of goods were blocked.
The plan is for Israel to reign indefinitely over the northern Gaza and to set up a new administration in which the Hamas forces are removed, practically splitting the region.
Prime Minister Netanyahu announced a postwar plan in February last year: Israel would keep security in the Gaza Strip and Palestinians who do not link with hostile entities would have leadership in the region. Minister of Finance Smotrich, a far-right politician, mentioned that it is necessary, in order to guarantee security of Israel, to rule Gaza eternally, construct colonies of Jews and deploy military forces.
The comment of president Trump means the Israeli initiative would be entrusted to the United States. We must not forget a fact that the Hamas was legitimately elected in the elections.
Even though the plan of President Trump is carried out, it is impossible to classify Hamas members from ordinary residents. No matter how many people have lost their lives since the foundation of the state of Israel, which was 77 years ago, Palestinians have kept surviving in their homeland under harsh prosecution, deprived of their determination and dignity. Their outrage certainly yields the next Hamas.
Japanese government remains silent
The first stage of ceasefire between Hamas and Israel is set for six weeks, beginning on January 19, 2025. At the moment releases of hostages by the Hamas and liberation of imprisoned Palestinians by Israel seem to go well.
The second phase is set forth to release the rest of the hostages, complete withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza, following declarations of everlasting termination of combat. But negotiation for the second and third phases does not proceed at all, while Israel bombs the West Bank of the Jordan River.
Many nations in the world, including Arab countries, have condemned the statement of President Trump. Meanwhile, however, the government of Japan, including Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, remains silent. A lawmaker Shii Kazuo from the Communist Party, solely, have raised a question in the parliamentary debates.
Does the Japanese government have a position ‘not to admit a change in the status quo by force?’ It is vital to bolster a social trend of ‘Freedom to Palestine! so that the government of Japan can chanllenge the statement of President Trump.
