The recent invasion to Ukraine by Russia has brought sacrifices of civilian population, involving attacks on nuclear power plants – a very serious situation. The New Socialist Party (NSP) of Japan demands withdrawal of Russian troops and immediate ceasefire of the parties. At the same time NSP members are determined not to allow evil plans to be carried out by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Ishin (=Renovation) Party who take advantage of the crisis in the European region.
CRIMINAL PLANS UNDERGOING BEHIND UKRAINIAN CRISIS
Mr. Abe Shinzo, former prime minister of Japan, proposed recently discussing ‘nuclear sharing’ with the United States, saying that Ukraine was assaulted because the country does not have nuclear arms. The remark is parallelly illicit to what Putin has said lately on the country’s nuclear capabilities.
Government builds up military using agitations
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio told, at first, not to put the nuclear issue on the agenda, but inside the ruling LDP strong opinions have erupted; will Japan refuse a port call by US military vessels at emergency? (Takaiichi Sanae, Chairperson, Policy Research Council), and, it is not strange to discuss the nation’s non-nuclear three principles (Suga Yoshihide). Meanwhile, the Ishin suggested to launch debates on strengthening defense capabilities by nuclear sharing with the United States.
Premier Kishida reiterates that the security situation in East Asia has become acute rapidly and that Japan has to plan a decisive rise of defense capabilities, welcoming debates on the national security strategies. He referred to the situation in Ukraine, bearing China in mind. The LDP and the Ishin seem to reach a goal to possess capacity to attack enemy bases in the foreign countries and to double defense budget, assuming in a provocation that Taiwan will come after Ukraine.
Will the Ukrainian crisis lead to an invasion to Taiwan by China? China abstained in the recent UNGA resolution to condemn Russia along with Cuba and other nations. That does not mean it supports the incursion. China has a close relation with Ukraine.
Foreign Minister of Ukraine works on Foreign Minister Wang Yi of China to mediate for ceasefire. In the State of Union Address of US President Biden (March 1) he told to put US on a path to win in the economic competition, but did not refer to Taiwan and the East and South China Seas. It is solely Japan’s rightist politicians that want to develop military strength against China, taking advantage of the European crisis as an unexpected opportunity.
World is in critical phase
Putin threatened the world with nuclear weapons, which is outrageous, but the simultaneously the US deploys 150 units of nuclear arsenal in Europe to share with the major NATO members except United Kingdom and France, which are nuclear nations.
If the Japanese government does not sincerely estimate Russia’s concern about the years-long NATO expansion, and does militarize Okinawa and the Southwest Islands, which are very close to China, together with the US, that will incite China to build up military strength and the region will be more tense.
President Zelensky seeks for immediate membership to EU and asks for NATO to close the sky over Ukraine against the Russian flights, but both the EU and NATO remain cautious. If the regional war becomes a full-fledged war, that will hit Ukraine more severely.
The world stands at the brink of survival; to maintain the truth that ‘military strength cannot produce peace’ by enhancing social voices against war and nuclear arms, or to get bogged down.
